Microsoft Teams: Updated developer tools to share content from Teams apps to chats, channels, and meetings MC797476 Published May 31, 2024

Today, users can share content to a Microsoft Teams meeting directly from a standalone webapp (in the browser) if developers have embedded a Share-in-Meeting control in their webapps. Today, this control allows users to share content only to an ongoing Teams meeting (or a new ad-hoc meeting) on the same device. In this rollout, we will retain the control's existing capabilities, and we will enhance the control to enable users to share content to a meeting scheduled for the future. We will combine the Share-in-Meeting controls with the existing Share to Teams dialog box, so users can use one dialog box to share from a Teams app to Teams chats, channels, or meetings. We are also introducing the ability for users to choose Present Now from the dialog to present content in a Teams meeting. Developers can choose to opt into the features in this rollout. This rollout applies to Teams for Windows, the web, and Mac.

Microsoft Teams: Channel cards MC797474 Published May 31, 2024

Microsoft Teams users will soon be able to get a quick overview about a channel using Channel cards. Channel cards will rollout across Microsoft Teams for desktop and web. Channel cards can be found by hovering over the channel name in the header or wherever a channel is mentioned.

Channel cards will provide information about a channel, including the description, last activity time, team name, and membership information. The card also provides a quick entry to notification settings, owner channel management, and the channel roster.

Microsoft Teams: The "Notify when available" feature is now live in the new Teams app MC797120 Published May 30, 2024

The "Notify when available" feature, which allows Teams users to get notified when a colleague's status changes to available, is going to be available shortly in Microsoft Teams.

A Teams user in your organization can subscribe to get notifications of individuals' availability in two ways:

1) By right-clicking (or tapping "...") on a person in the chat list view, and selecting "Notify when available"

2) In a new "People" section, available in the Teams app Settings -> Notifications and activity -> People

To stop receiving notifications, you can turn them off in your app settings (#2 above).

Targeted Release: We will begin rolling out mid-May 2024 and expect to complete by early June 2024.

General Availability (Worldwide, GCC, GCCHigh, DoD): We will begin rolling out in late May 2024 and expect to complete by early June 2024.

Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams: Unified management of Teams apps in Teams, Outlook, and the Microsoft 365 app MC796790 Published May 29, 2024

In 2023, we introduced Microsoft Teams apps that are compatible with Microsoft Outlook and the Microsoft 365 App (manifest version v1.13 or higher). Before this rollout, admin changes made in the Integrated apps section of the Microsoft 365 admin center would only affect these Teams apps in Outlook and the Microsoft 365 app. Similarly, changes made in the Teams admin center would exclusively affect Teams. Starting in June 2024, we will roll out Unified App Management to streamline the management of these apps across Teams, Outlook and the Microsoft 365 App, so they are consistently available across all supported clients.
