Microsoft Teams: Users can join town hall and webinars using Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) codes MC1070183 Published May 8, 2025

Coming soon for Microsoft Teams: Organizers and presenters will be able to join town halls, webinars, and structured meetings seamlessly using a Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) code. Organizers and co-organizers can share the dial-in codes to presenters from the event scheduling form. They can also call presenters from the roster as well. Once connected, presenters will automatically join the Waiting Room for attendees and then an organizer or co-organizer can promote presenters from the roster to the green room or the live session, to help ensure a smooth and efficient experience.

This message applies to Teams for Windows desktop, Teams for Mac desktop, Teams for the web, and Teams for iOS/Android.

Coming soon for Microsoft Teams: Organizations that do not currently use Teams will be able to join and present in Teams town halls using their own video conferencing devices. Because we have incorporated Cloud Video Interop (CVI) capabilities into the event form, organizers can receive join codes for their tenant and share the codes to presenters, allowing them to easily join the event. This rollout ensures that all presenters can join the green room and can see and hear each other without any limitations. Only trusted CVI devices can join the session. After they join, a meeting organizer or co-organizer can promote the device from attendee to presenter, and then they can communicate with other presenters in the green room before the event starts.

After this rollout, the Walkie Talkie app will move to the three-dot More menu in Teams for iOS/Android if users choose to separate their chats and channels (chats and channels are combined by default in the new chats and channels experience). To keep the Walkie Talkie app in the app bar, admins can either create a custom app policy or users can choose to combine chats and channels.

Live captions copying disabled for Teams meetings MC1065053 Published Apr 29, 2025

We’re rolling out a small update to help enhance meeting content protection in Microsoft Teams. To better support organizations with compliance and privacy needs, Live Captions will now be view-only during meetings. This means you can continue to follow along with captions in real time - but without the ability to copy text directly from the caption pane.
