Teams – new message center posts:
Teams copy/paste of messages does not include
timestamp and message author name MC878422
Published Aug 30, 2024
Many users have voiced frustrations over copying
messages in Teams, particularly the inclusion of metadata like names and
timestamps. Customer feedback has been clear, signaling that this feature was
adding more noise than value to user workflow.
We are rolling out the change that copied
messages are only showing the message content moving forward.
- Streamlined Experience: Most users simply want to copy and paste
messages without the extra clutter. Removing names and timestamps from
copied content helps maintain focus and reduces unnecessary noise.
- Better Alternatives for Specific Needs: For those who need to
forward messages or extract conversations, we recommend using the Forward
feature for message transfer between chats, and the Teams Export API for
conversation extraction. These tools are more robust and prevent
manipulation of message content.
General Availability (Worldwide): Available
now and we apologize for not communicating prior to the rollout occurring.
Microsoft Teams: Streamlined process for
installing Teams apps MC877316
Published Aug 29, 2024
Coming soon to Microsoft Teams: A streamlined
installation process to simplify how users add an app to Teams. This update
aims to reduce friction and improve user engagement with apps by offering a
more intuitive process from discovery to use. We've reduced the number of steps
it takes for a user to install an app and start using it in chats, channels,
and meetings. This message applies to Teams on Windows desktop, Mac desktop,
and on the web.
Targeted Release: We will begin rolling out
early September 2024 and expect to complete by early September 2024.
General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin
rolling out mid-September 2024 and expect to complete by late September
2024.
General Availability (GCC): We will begin
rolling out late October 2024 and expect to complete by early November 2024.
Microsoft Teams Phones: New routing for US
emergency calls made by common area phones MC875073
Published Aug 27, 2024
We are contacting you because your organization
is using Microsoft Teams Phone with phone numbers that are associated with
statically assigned emergency locations. We are changing the routing for
Microsoft Teams calls made by common area phones to emergency services in the
United States. As a result of this change, calls to emergency services made by
common area phones will be routed directly to the appropriate Public Safety
Access Point (PSAP) instead of first being screened by a national call center
to determine the location.
General Availability (Production): We will
begin rolling out late September 2024 and expect to complete by mid-October
2024.
CAPTCHA Verification for Anonymous Meeting
Participants MC875061
Published Aug 27, 2024
Microsoft Teams tenants will soon be able to
enable verification for anonymous meeting participants via CAPTCHA. This
release of CAPTCHA Verification for Anonymous Meeting Participants will be
rolling out across Microsoft Teams Desktop, Mobile and Web and will provide
additional security against malicious bot and third-party app joins.
General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin
rolling out early October 2024 and expect to complete by mid-October 2024.

Sensitive meetings to be excluded from Viva
Insights metrics MC876291
Published Aug 28, 2024
End-users of Outlook have the ability to set a
meeting to have a ‘Private’ or ‘Confidential’ sensitivity level in order to
protect the information of a meeting they consider sensitive. To ensure that
these meetings cannot be analyzed, Viva Insights would remove these meetings
from metric computation.
We will begin rolling this out in mid-September
2024 and expect to complete by mid-October 2024.
