  • Microsoft Teams – new message center posts:

 

Microsoft Teams: Notification suppression for hidden channels MC793969 Published May 17, 2024

Microsoft Teams: With the launch of this new feature, notification suppression for hidden channels, users will now only receive notifications for personal and tag mentions from these hidden channels. This enhancement is designed to improve the user experience by allowing them to stay on top of their most relevant conversations.

General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out early June 2024 and expect to complete by late June 2024.

General Availability (GCC): We will begin rolling out early July 2024 and expect to complete by early July 2024.

General Availability (GCC High): We will begin rolling out mid-July 2024 and expect to complete by mid-July 2024.

General Availability (DoD): We will begin rolling out mid-July 2024 and expect to complete by late July 2024.

 

Bringing mentions filter upfront and retirement of other filters in Activity Feed MC793967 Published May 17, 2024

To solve for discoverability and ease of usage of @Mentions in activity, The ‘@Mention’ filter along with ‘Unread’ will be displayed upfront to the users as selectable pills while the other filters will be retired.

Instead, we recommend the utilization of upfront mentions pill, which address the bullseye of filtering needs in Activity feed and is where we will continue to invest our development resources.

Targeted Release:  beginning early May 2024, and the roll out will be completed by mid-May 2024.

General Availability:  beginning late May 2024 and expect to complete by mid-June 2024.

 

Microsoft Teams: Attach files from Microsoft SharePoint sites in the mobile app MC793966 Published May 17, 2024

In Microsoft Teams, users will be able to browse, multiselect and attach files from SharePoint Sites to a chat or channel conversation in the Teams mobile application.

Microsoft Teams: Suppressing notifications from muted chats MC793965 Published May 17, 2024

Coming soon for Microsoft Teams: For muted chats, users will continue to receive notifications for personal mentions in their Activity feed, but we will suppress notifications for @Everyone mentions and reactions. Before the rollout, users received notifications from muted chats for personal mentions, @Everyone mentions, and reactions in their Activity feed. This message applies to Teams for Desktop, web, Mac, and mobile.

General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out early June 2024 and expect to complete by late June 2024.

Resolving issues for users remaining on classic Teams MC793321 Published May 15, 2024

This Message center post outlines some of the reasons why users may remain on classic Teams and what steps the administrators need to take to transition users to new Teams or address existing problems. This applies to Commercial, EDU, Government cloud customers as well as VDI environment users. Reference to our last MC post regarding End of Support and End of availability (MC783985 April '24)

 

Retirement of the Microsoft Graph meeting registration beta APIs MC793004 Published May 15, 2024

In February 2023, Microsoft Teams introduced a new version of Teams webinar that allows for more powerful and controlled registration, additional email capabilities, smooth external presenter capabilities, access control, and more. This will replace the initial version of Teams webinar by June 30th, 2024.

The Microsoft Graph meeting registration Beta APIs that support the initial version are currently being retired and will stop returning data on September 30th, 2024.

 

Microsoft Teams: Shifts plugin in Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 MC793003 Published May 15, 2024

Within Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 users can now leverage the Shifts plugin to get information about their teams' open shifts, shifts, and scheduled time off.

Microsoft Teams: Auto-create Microsoft Loop workspaces to share meeting content MC792605 Published May 13, 2024

Coming soon: Microsoft Teams meeting organizers of recurring meetings will be prompted in the chat to create a Microsoft Loop workspace after their meetings end. The Loop workspace helps gather shared meeting content into a central, durable Loop workspace to enable ongoing collaboration over time. As a recurring meeting series continues, additional content shared in the meeting chat will be added automatically to the initial Loop workspace.

Targeted Release: We will begin rolling out mid-May 2024 and expect to complete by mid-May 2024.

General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out mid-May 2024 and complete by early June 2024.

 

Microsoft Teams: Ask to join a shared channel with a channel link MC792603 Published May 13, 2024

Coming soon to Microsoft Teams: In-tenant users who attempt to access a shared channel with a link will be able to request to join the channel. Channel owners will receive the join request and can decide to approve or deny request. This rollout applies to Teams for Desktop and Mac.

Microsoft Viva Engage: Changes to iOS app minimum support MC793962 Published May 17, 2024

If your organization does not support iOS, you can ignore this message.

Beginning June 3, 2024, we will retire support for the Viva Engage app on iOS devices running iOS 15 or earlier. iOS 16 or later will be required. Devices running iOS 15 or earlier will still be able to use Viva Engage after the rollout but won't receive new Engage app updates.

 

Microsoft Viva: Onedrive Files Card on Viva Connections dashboard MC793655 Published May 16, 2024

This feature update helps organizations add a view of Microsoft OneDrive files that were recently accessed, shared, or marked favorite by a user. This file view can be added in the form of Files Card on the Viva Connections dashboard.
