Microsoft Teams: Remove Call/Meeting Details From iOS Device Call Logs MC668796 · Published Aug 18, 2023

Teams users can soon choose if they want to have their Teams calls/meetings displayed in their device’s call logs on iOS. They can enable or disable this option from their calling settings. When this setting is turned OFF, Teams calls/meetings will not be added to the users' iOS Recents list. All calls/meetings prior to disabling will still be shown in the Recents list.

Starting in September 2023, we will begin including new Microsoft Teams as part of the new and existing installations of Microsoft 365 apps for Windows depending on the schedule provided in this post. Currently, users can install the new Teams by using the Try the new Teams toggle switch in classic Teams or having administrators bulk deploy directly to the computers in their organization. Read MC533687 and MC617066 for details for earlier announcements for new Teams.

Administrators can exclude installing new Teams from their Microsoft 365 apps deployment if they don't wish to have new Teams included in the installation.

This announcement includes details about the upcoming changes for rolling out the new Teams desktop app with Microsoft 365 apps and details on managing opt-outs. This change is beginning currently for Microsoft 365 Apps for Windows.

We will begin by including the new Teams app as part of new and existing Microsoft 365 app installations on Windows depending on your office update channel and license Type. You will continue to have the classic Teams app included in the installation as well.

Administrators will be able to manage opt-out from this deployment if they do not wish to have new Teams included in the installation. More details in the section below.

This feature update will allow Microsoft Teams EHR Connector to automatically supply Epic EHR systems with customer specific public keys for OAuth2 authentication during EHR Connector meeting launches. This differs from the pre-existing workflow where public keys were manually uploaded into Epic. By automating this process, the feature provides reliability and security improvements by allowing more frequent automated rotation of certificates by avoiding manual steps in the rotation process.

Preview: We will begin rolling out mid-June and expect to complete in late June. The preview period will be until late July.

Standard Release: We will begin rolling out late July (previously early July) and expect to complete by late August 2023 (previously early August).

 

Microsoft Default for Tag Management to include Team Members MC668258 · Published Aug 16, 2023

We are updating Microsoft Default setting to Team Owners and Members for Teams Tag Management settings in Teams Admin Center.

If you have already explicitly made a selection to your Tag Management settings your tenant will not be affected by this change.

If you have not made changes to Tag Management settings, Microsoft Default settings will apply for your tenant. Microsoft Default settings currently map to "Team Owners" value but this update will change it to "Team Owners and Members".

As Admin, please set tag management settings to reflect tenant-level preference. Select “Team Owners” to keep tag management limited to Team Owners, or select “Team owners and members” to allow all team members to create and edit tags.

In Teams client, users will still see the same options as they do today: "Team Owners" and "Team owners and members".

Microsoft Teams: Microsoft Teams Rooms Pro and Basic service plans backfill. MC668247 · Published Aug 16, 2023

This change was originally announced in MC540241 (April '23), we apologize for the delay in providing the new timeline.

Teams Rooms provide rooms specific functionality through room specific licenses and underlying products (Service plans) included in these licenses. To ensure consistency of experiences across current and future room licenses, all Teams Rooms Pro licenses will be backfilled with Microsoft_Teams_Rooms_Pro service plan while all Teams Rooms Basic licenses will be backfilled with Microsoft_Teams_Rooms_Basic service plan.

The backfill is planned for late August 2023 and will complete early September 2023.

Updated August 16, 2023: The new Teams default app has started rolling out, and for more information, please visit https://aka.ms/newTeamsPolicy.

Since March 2023, we have continued to add features such as third-party, line-of-business (LOB) applications, breakout rooms, and new scenarios such as multi-tenant organization (MTO) to the new Teams experience. Read MC533687 for details for our March announcement. Check The new Microsoft Teams (Preview) for details on upcoming features and support for Government Clouds and platforms such as Mac, VDI, and Web.

This announcement includes three upcoming changes for rolling out the new Microsoft Teams app:

Note: We will continue to honor the admin setting for UseNewTeamsClient under Teams update policies, where admins have already deployed the policy. This is to ensure administrators are fully empowered to manage the rollout of new Teams in a manner that’s right for them.

  1. We will begin displaying Try the new Teams toggle within the classic Microsoft Teams client where the admin policy setting of UseNewTeamsClient is set to Microsoft default value (Microsoft controlled in the Teams Admin Center (TAC) or Microsoft choice in PowerShell) based on our schedule details below.
  2. Administrators will be able to directly deploy the new Teams client to PCs in their organization.
  3. We will begin making new Teams as the default app for classic Teams users where the admin policy is set to Microsoft default (Microsoft controlled in TAC or Microsoft choice in PowerShell) based on our schedule details below. Administrators will be able to manage setting new Teams as the default app for their users.

Starting mid-to late July 2023:

Microsoft will begin displaying the Try the new Teams toggle within the classic Microsoft Teams client starting in late July 2023. The planned rollout will be:

Business plans (for example, Business Basic, Business Standard, Business Premium, and Teams Essentials (AAD), etc.): late July-early August 2023

Enterprise plans (for example, E3, E5, F3, etc.): The new Microsoft Teams desktop client

Note: Admins who have already deployed the policy to display the toggle or hide the toggle for their organizations will not see any change. 

Administrators can deploy the new Teams client directly to PCs in their organization starting mid-July 2023.

Administrators can deploy a new setting value to make new Teams the default app for their users starting late July 2023

Starting September 2023:

Microsoft will start making the new Teams the default app starting in late September 2023. The planned rollout will be:

Business plans (for example, Business Basic, Business Standard, Business Premium, and Teams Essentials (AAD), etc.): late September 2023

Enterprise plans (for example, E3, E5, F3, etc.): The new Microsoft Teams desktop client

Channel meeting invitations will now allow channel meeting organizers the ability to share invites on personal calendars of all channel members.

Beginning in March, users in your organization will be able to use expanded views of the profile card in Teams. The expanded view is already available in Outlook and includes more information, like an overview of the profile, contact information, organizational chart, and LinkedIn tab.

Teams Walkie is enabling users to pin/favorite up to five channels on the Microsoft Teams Walkie Talkie Home Page. Users can easily switch in between the favorited channels with a single tap going forward.

We are pleased to announce that we will soon support the Microsoft Teams Shared Device license on the Teams Android mobile application. The Teams Shared Device license offers a shared identity-based , common area phone experience, including basic and advanced calling, people search, voicemail and walkie talkie.

Microsoft Teams admins will soon be able to capture and redirect requests for external collaboration in shared channels. This update of Microsoft Teams will be rolling out on Teams admin center, Microsoft Teams Desktop and Web, and will provide a way for organizations to capture and redirect requests for external collaboration when users attempt to add an external member to a shared channel where B2B direct connect cross-tenant trust has not been mutually configured between the two organizations.

We will begin rollout to commercial tenants in early October 2023 (previously early August) and expect to complete rollout by mid-October 2023 (previously mid-August).

Quick View of Dashboard Cards in Dark Mode for Viva Connections Mobile MC668800 · Published Aug 18, 2023

We have been actively working on enriching our Viva Connections platform and are pleased to announce that we will soon introduce Dark Mode support for Quick Views on both iOS and Android devices.

Rollout will begin in early November 2023 and is expected to be complete by mid-November 2023.

Viva Goals is introducing the option to export OKRs to PowerPoint in various templates.

Changes to Customization Controls in Viva Pulse In-App Experience MC667665 · Published Aug 14, 2023

Currently, there are two customization controls in the Viva Pulse In-App Admin Experience. The ‘Stock Questions’ control allows employees to edit stock questions. The ‘New questions’ control allows employees to create and edit their own questions. We will soon be merging the two controls into one customization control. This one control, when turned ON, will allow employees to edit stock questions and add their own questions in the Pulse survey. All customization capabilities will be turned on when this control is ON, and all customization capabilities will be turned off when this control is OFF.

Rollout will begin in early September 2023 and is expected to be complete by late September 2023.
