  • Microsoft Teams – new message center posts:

 

 

Microsoft Teams: Microsoft PowerShell cmdlet to allow federation with specific trial tenant domains MC994289 Published Jan 31, 2025

Coming soon: We will introduce a new Microsoft Teams PowerShell setting in Tenant Federation Configuration to enable you to customize your federation posture. Tenant administrators will be able to define a list of external trial tenants to be whitelisted for federation, while maintaining the default block on overall federation with trial-only tenants.

General Availability (Worldwide): The new setting is available now in Teams PowerShell. If populated, the allowed trial tenant domains list will start to take effect in mid-February 2025.

 

Microsoft Teams: Native Bluetooth call controls using hands-free protocol for multiple peripheral devices MC993227 Published Jan 31, 2025

Coming soon for Microsoft Teams: When you have several peripheral devices connected to Teams, the one you use to answer a call will temporarily become the main device that will sync with Teams when using the device's buttons. After the call, the original device selected in Teams settings will take over again as the main device. After this rollout, users can use multiple native Bluetooth devices can be confident that call controls will function correctly with all of them.

This message applies to Teams for Windows desktop.

Targeted Release: We will begin rolling out early March 2025 and expect to complete by late March 2025.

General Availability (Worldwide, GCC, GCC High): We will begin rolling out mid-March 2025 and expect to complete by mid-April 2025.

 

Microsoft Teams: New location sharing settings for emergency calls and other features MC993226 Published Jan 31, 2025

Microsoft Teams will soon have a new location sharing setting that will allow users to grant location access to specific features. This change will affect emergency dynamic policy and the network bandwidth policy.

This message applies to Teams for Windows desktop (version 24H2 or greater) and Teams for Mac desktop. VDI clients will not be supported at this time. When this will happen:

Targeted Release: We will begin rolling out early February 2025 and expect to complete by mid-February 2025.

General Availability (Worldwide, GCC, GCC High, DoD): We will begin rolling out late February 2025 and expect to complete by early March 2025.

 

Microsoft Teams: Third-party chat and meeting keyboard shortcut support MC992216 Published Jan 30, 2025

Users familiar with keyboard shortcuts from third-party chat and meeting applications can use those same shortcuts in Microsoft Teams. To enable this, go to the Settings and more button in the upper right, access the keyboard shortcuts dialog, and select a communication or meeting layout. This allows users to apply the shortcuts they are used to from other applications.

Microsoft Teams: New microphone volume indicator for users MC989974 Published Jan 28, 2025

Coming soon for Microsoft Teams: A new Mic volume indicator on the user bar in Teams meetings. This feature will provide users with real-time visual feedback on their audio levels in the meeting, eliminating the need to ask, “Can you hear me?” This feature is designed to minimize interruptions as well as enhance user confidence and meeting effectiveness.

This feature applies to Teams on Windows desktop and Mac desktop.

Targeted Release: We will begin rolling out in early March 2025 and expect to complete by mid-March 2025.

General Availability (Worldwide, GCC): We will begin rolling out in late March 2025 and expect to complete by late April 2025.

General Availability (DoD): We will begin rolling out in late June 2025 and expect to complete by early August 2025.

 

Microsoft Teams: Policy to disable in-product messages relating to periodic What's New and Conferences updates MC989968 Published Jan 28, 2025

Some in-product messages in Microsoft Teams can now be controlled with the New-CsTeamsUpdateManagementPolicy command. Using this control, tenant admins can limit in-product messages relating to periodic What's New and Conferences updates.

General Availability (Worldwide, GCC): This update is available now.
