(Updated) Disable chat write access for anonymous or unauthenticated users MC392295 · Published Jun 14, 2022 · Last updated Dec 8, 2022

Updated December 8, 2022: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

Financial institutions consider chat messages as a form of data exfiltration, so it's imperative for IT admins to gain flexibility and control over chat access for anonymous or unauthenticated users. The latter may be expected to join Teams meetings, but they should be restricted from seeing and accessing any type of electronic communication on chat. This feature provides additional security by only disabling chat write access for non-federated users and unauthenticated users who join Teams meetings through a link, so it must be used in conjunction with disabled meeting chat policy applied to financial advisors to remain compliant.

Teams Chat is for fast-paced communication, and we want to ensure nothing gets in the way. Pull in via @mention provides a short cut to the add-dialog saving you time from realizing the person isn’t already in the chat and navigating (2-clicks) to the add-dialog manually.  Users can now add someone to a group chat directly from the compose box via @ mention.

(Updated) PowerPoint Live in Teams: Magnify Slide MC452198 · Published Oct 28, 2022 · Last updated Dec 5, 2022

December 5, 2022: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

When a deck is presented via PowerPoint Live in a Microsoft Teams meeting, all meeting attendees can use the Magnify Slide feature to privately zoom into the presentation while maintaining full fidelity of the slide content. When a meeting attendee magnifies a slide, it doesn’t change how the presenter or the other meeting attendees view the slides. The “Sync to presenter” button will also appear, which allows the meeting attendee to resume following the presenter. When the meeting presenter uses the Magnify Slide feature, the zoomed in presentation content is displayed to all meeting attendees to see and follow along. The initial roll out of Magnify slide in PowerPoint Live will only be available for Microsoft Teams Desktop.

There are multiple ways to use this feature in a Teams Meeting using PPT Live:

  • Use the +/- buttons in the (…) menu
  • Use Plus or Minus keys or Shift + Plus or Shift + Minus key on the keyboard (Ensure keyboard focus is on the PowerPoint Live slideshow area)
  • Pinch or stretch on the track pad while hovering over the slide
  • Pinch or stretch on the slide using a touch screen enabled device
  • Use Ctrl + mouse wheel scroll while hovering over the slide

In the current Viva Connections environment: for users to acquire more Cards to their Dashboard, they need use the “Add an app” under Settings and Dashboard Edit Page, but it does not include Viva Connections Apps provided by Independent Software Vendors (ISVs). This is a major blocker of ISVs acquisition engine. We need to provide better entry points for users to discover and add ISV Cards.
