Introducing the Microsoft Teams app usage report

As you might have noticed there are now more than 500 apps available for Microsoft Teams. Among popular education apps such as Assignments and Kahoot! you will also find productivity apps such as ServiceNow and Confluence Cloud.

As a Teams administrator, how could you keep track of which apps are used and how much they are used?

Maybe you need to ensure that the organization remains compliant with any regulations that govern it, or maybe you want to drive effective usage of your Teams platform. This can be managed by the app permission policies in Teams, but how can you make sure the right policies are in place?

This is where the new "Microsoft Teams app usage report" comes in!

To view a report of what apps are being used in your tenant simply open the Teams Admin center and click "Analytics & reports" and "Usage reports." On the "View reports tab", under "Report", select "Apps Usage." The Teams Apps usage report can be viewed for trends over the last 7, 30 or 90 days.

It is also possible to export the report to a CSV file for offline analysis. Click Export to Excel, and then on the Downloads tab, click Download to download the report when it is ready. In this exported report you can view the AppID of the Apps recorded in the report.
