New Teams rollout schedule for Commercial and
EDU customers MC718748
· Published Feb 23, 2024
This is an updated timeline for the rollout of
the new Teams to Commercial and Education customers. The new Teams is available
for all customers today and is being enabled in stages as defined below. Teams
Admin Center policy controls will remain available until end of March 2024,
at which point they will only apply to your VDI users if applicable. We
have heard your feedback; if we are unable to update to new Teams by the end of
March, users will be allowed to remain on classic Teams until classic Teams is
no longer available. More updates on the end of availability will come in the
next few weeks.
We recommend updating your organization to the
latest version of the new Teams at your earliest convenience as all new feature
development will only be available in new Teams. Comprehensive documentation is
available here: End
of availability for classic Teams client - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn
To help you execute and monitor your transition
to new Teams, we have released a new usage report in Teams Admin Center that
will show you usage of classic Teams vs new Teams within your tenant.
Documentation is available here: Usage
report for new Teams client - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn
Microsoft-controlled rollout. If your policy is
set to Microsoft-controlled (default state), Microsoft will continue rolling
out new Teams on your behalf. There is one final stage remaining for this
rollout option:
New Teams Only: Beginning early April 2024, all
remaining classic Teams users will be updated to new Teams and the toggle
switch will be removed. If we are unable to update to new Teams, users will be
allowed to remain on classic Teams until classic Teams is no longer available.
See End of Availability section below for more information. After this
completes, Microsoft will attempt to uninstall classic Teams just once on your
behalf after a small delay of 14 days. If this uninstall is blocked for any
reasons (e.g. by machine configuration, etc.) the uninstall will not be
attempted again and you will need to remove
classic Teams yourself if you want.
Admin-managed rollout. Admins may choose to
control their new Teams rollout by setting the Teams update policy for their
users (as described in: Upgrade
to the new Teams client using policies - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn.)
Admins may control the Teams update policy until end of March 2024.
Starting early April, 2024, Teams update
policies you have applied in the past or policies you apply going forward in
Teams Admin Center or with PowerShell will no longer be honored except for your
VDI users, if applicable. When this change is complete, a Microsoft-controlled
rollout will begin according to the following schedule.
New Teams becomes the default app: Beginning
early April 2024, new Teams will become the default app for all Teams users.
The toggle will still be available to users to switch back to classic Teams if
needed.
New Teams Only: Beginning mid-May 2024, all
remaining classic Teams users will be updated to new Teams and the toggle
switch will be removed. If we are unable to update to new Teams, users will be
allowed to remain on classic Teams until classic Teams is no longer available.
See End of availability section below for more information. After this completes,
Microsoft will attempt to uninstall classic Teams just once on your behalf
after a small delay (currently 14 days, subject to change). If this uninstall
is blocked for any reasons (e.g. by machine configuration, etc.) the uninstall
will not be attempted again and you will need to remove
classic Teams yourself if you want.
End of availability: We will release more
information in the next few weeks around the end of availability for classic
Teams. Based on your feedback, we will not block classic Teams users who do not
meet the new Teams prerequisites
or who experience other install
failures until July 1, 2024, at the earliest to provide you more time to
address these issues for your users and avoid disruption to your business.
(For more information on this update, see this
document: Classic
Teams users to be automatically updated to new Teams - Microsoft Teams |
Microsoft Learn)
Standard Release (if applicable): The new Teams
rollout is ongoing and will reach all users by July 2024, as detailed above.

Retirement of Post by Email and Reply by Email
in Viva Engage (Yammer) MC718760
· Published Feb 23, 2024
We would like to inform you of an upcoming
change that affects how a subset of users post and reply to conversations via
email. The ability to create a new post or reply to an existing post directly
using email will be retired from Viva Engage starting on March 31st, 2024.
Interactive emails in Outlook provide the richest way to stay engaged in Viva
Engage conversations, polls, questions, and praise, without leaving the Outlook
inbox.
Historically, users could create new posts in a
Viva Engage community by sending an email to a specific email address for that
community. Additionally, users can reply to an existing post via an email sent
to that conversation. These flows will stop working. Users must instead utilize
one of the options listed below for their scenario.
If users attempt to post in a community or
reply to an existing community post via email after the feature is disabled,
they will receive an email notification explaining that the feature is no longer
available. All other email related Engage features will remain unaffected.
Community posts will still generate email notifications, and users will still
be able to reply and react to posts using the Viva Engage Web, Mobile, Teams,
and Outlook interactive email experiences.
Retirement will begin in late March 2024 and is
expected to complete by late May 2024. We will not be providing
extensions for continued use of these retired features.
Microsoft Viva Engage: Updates to conversation
analytics MC718550
· Published Feb 23, 2024

analytics in Microsoft Viva Engage! By the end of March, users will notice a
new look for analytics on their posts. Conversation analytics will refresh
faster with real-time updates, the expanded set of reactions will show in the
reactions breakdown, and users will be able to filter activity across various
time periods (7 days–12 months). These updates will be available to all
customers with a Microsoft 365 license. Additional capabilities like sentiment
analysis and more detailed engagement breakdowns will be available only to
customers with a Viva Suite or Viva Employee Communications and Communities
license.

· Published Feb 13, 2024 · Last updated Feb 21, 2024
Updated February 21, 2024: We have updated the
rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.
An organization’s Global Admin is set by default
as the Microsoft Viva Glint Admin, but they likely are not the ones using the
platform. They need the ability to assign the correct person as their
organization’s Viva Glint Admin and remove themselves.
Viva Glint (Service) administrators can now be
assigned through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center (MAC) in addition to being able
to setup within the Viva Glint product. There will not be changes to existing

(Updated) Yammer Rebranding to Viva Engage
Domain Migration Update MC679739
· Published Oct 7, 2023 · Last updated Feb 19, 2024
Updated February 19, 2023: We have updated the
rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.
If you took action to change or update your
email configuration based on the previous communication, then that should
remain largely valid. We encourage you to review changes when any updated
notice is received.
As previously communicated in MC561701 (May

web and email domains. These changes happen on different schedules and may
impact you differently.
Changes to our web domain are currently not
anticipated to impact our APIs. Should there be any changes in the future we
will notify you.

(Updated) Non-Native and Hybrid Yammer
Networks are being upgraded MC424414
· Published Sep 1, 2022 · Last updated Feb 19, 2024
Updated February 19, 2024: We have updated the
rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.
Non-Native and Hybrid Yammer Networks will be
upgraded to Native Mode to allow users, groups, and content to be compatible
with and mapped to their counterparts in Azure Active Directory and Microsoft
365. Native Mode also provides other benefits, such as the ability to host Live
Events in every Yammer community and simplify file administration through
SharePoint. Most critically, Native Mode supports eDiscovery through the
Microsoft Purview compliance portal, allowing your organization to collaborate
safely and securely within your Yammer network. 90% of Yammer networks are in
Native Mode today, including our top 10 largest networks.
We will begin migrating networks on December
01, 2022, and continue the upgrades through late December 2024 (previously
January). The process will begin with smaller networks. If you prefer to
control the timing of your upgrade, you may initiate the process on your own at
any time by visiting the Microsoft 365 Native Mode page within the Network
Admin pages of Yammer.
