Microsoft Teams: App Suggestions by Task in In-Context Stores MC561700 · Published 26 maj 2023

Users think about which tasks they need to complete, such as creating a survey, inside Microsoft Teams. Soon, app suggestions will be organized by tasks that the apps support as opposed to conventional categories (productivity, project management). As a result, the new categorization will reduce the amount of time users need to spend learning about these apps – helping them to work more effectively.

Updated May 25, 2023: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

The Virtual Appointments app provides a central hub for all your virtual appointments needs in Microsoft Teams. The app enables a seamless end-to-end experience for business-to-customer engagements.

Queue view in Virtual Appointments app is a premium advanced virtual appointment feature that allows businesses to Empower employees to manage and service scheduled and on-demand virtual appointments in one location with advanced capabilities to track wait times, live status of a meeting, and more. Scheduling administrators and staff conducting virtual appointments can monitor incoming requests and process them appropriately.

Two-way lobby chat in queue view will provide a seamless client experience with an interactive waiting room that allows facilitators to send waiting room messages to customers prior to the meeting. For example, a client in the waiting room can receive messages from the facilitator or other staff schedulers such as, “Last appointment is running long. Be with you in 5 mins.” The client can respond directly in chat so they can stay connected and ask any questions as needed. Two-way lobby chat is currently supported only for meetings joined from a mobile browser. Desktop browser is currently not supported.

Microsoft Teams: Updating the Bookings app to the Virtual Appointments app MC560731 · Published 24 maj 2023

Bookings is supported across multiple entry points spanning Web, Teams and Outlook, however there is lack of parity in the feature set across these entry points leading to an inconsistent user experience. This fragmented experience has resulted in high DSAT for customers that has provided feedback to Microsoft to unify and provide feature parity in Bookings across all entry points.

The Bookings experience in Teams will soon be updated to match the web version on https://book.ms, ensuring consistent features across all endpoints. However, certain features like Forms, Queuing & scheduler-initiated SMS reminders for appointments will be available only on the new Virtual Appointments app on Teams.

With the Virtual Appointments app, we are introducing an end-to-end B2C meetings solution that leverages Bookings as the scheduling engine and includes advanced meetings features such as real time meeting state update, chat with attendees in waiting room lobby via Queue view, rich analytics to shows virtual appointment usage trends to drive business outcomes such as no-shows.

With this change, the updated Bookings Teams app will have feature parity and consistent user experience as Bookings web app. Virtual Appointments app will be a superset of the current Bookings Teams app experience embedded within the new app and will include advanced virtual appointments features.

This feature is associated with Microsoft Roadmap ID 120420

Rollout will begin in late June 2023 and is expected to be complete by early July 2023.

What is Targeted Release?

Targeted release allows early access to high quality feature releases across Microsoft 365 apps and services, which customers can opt-in to prepare for the upcoming changes before they roll out to the rest of the organization.

New Microsoft Teams Continuous Web Logs Extend the Window for Troubleshooting MC555189 · Published 15 maj 2023

Debug log files are automatically produced by the Microsoft Teams client, which can aid in monitoring and troubleshooting Teams. Also known as “Web logs”, Debug logs have historically been constrained by a limited memory buffer. If not collected by the user immediately after an issue occurs, the “signature” of the issue may not be present in the Debug logs, making it more difficult to resolve recent and future issues.

This is being addressed with Continuous Web Logs (CWL). With CWL enabled, once the in-memory buffer reaches the limit, log lines will be saved to a file on user's machine extending the log capturing window up to one business day for an average user, providing a significantly larger window for troubleshooting.

CWL is available to all tenants, but currently disabled by default. Teams' admins are able to turn it on using either of these methods:

  • Assigning TeamsMediaLoggingPolicy via PowerShell cmdlets
  • Setting a Feature Flag enableContinuousWebClientLogging to True. This can be done with assistance from Microsoft. As a temp solution, {enableContinuousWebClientLogging: true} can be added to hooks.json locally for the user. This will override the ECS setting for the user and enable CWL.

Soon, Teams admins will have an additional option to enable CWL from the Teams admin center.

On June 1, 2023, CWL will become the default for Teams users with the following desktop system specifications:

  • Intel Core i3 and Core i5 (generation 10 or higher), Core i7 and Core i9 (any generation) excluding the following series: U, Y, G1-G7, UE, UL, M, QM
  • Intel Xeon
  • AMD Ryzen 5, 7, 9 and TR models excluding U series
  • Apple Silicon (all series of M1 and M2 chips)

Admins may use the methods listed above to enable CWL for Teams users with lesser system specifications. CWL will not be enabled by default for all machines to avoid the potential for user impact on lower-end devices.

Yammer: Bulk Community Member Import for Viva Engage GA MC557820 · Published 19 maj 2023

As a Viva Engage community manager, one of the most important and time-consuming tasks is managing members, especially in large organizations where efficiency matters. If you’re a community manager for an Engage community in a Native Mode network, we are introducing a feature that will allow managers to bulk add multiple members to their community using a CSV file. This will help community managers establish their initial community membership, bring over members from another community, or migrate from another community platform. Community managers can add up to 20,000 members and the upload can take up to 24 hours to process.

This feature will begin rollout in late May 2023 and will be fully rolled out by early June 2023.
