Teams Live Event capacity limit extension MC698896
· Published Dec 16, 2023
Microsoft had previously instituted temporary
capacity increases for Teams live events that were set to expire on December
31, 2023. This included increasing the Live Event capacity from 10,000
attendees to up to 20,000 attendees, increasing the concurrency limit from 15
to 50 simultaneous events, and increasing the Live Event duration from 4 hours
to 16 hours. To ensure administrators have adequate time to train their user
base, we are extending the timeline for these capacity limit increases for
Teams Live Events to now expire on June 30, 2024.
Until June 30, 2024, you will be able to run Teams Live Events of
up to 20,000 attendees, have up to 50 of these Live Events run simultaneously,
and have your Live Events run for up to 16 hours.

experience as soon as the middle of January 2024. The Producer experience will

This is a two-part update, with:
- IntelliFrame experiences availability on new Teams app for Desktop,
- Expanding recognition support to cover scenarios such as meeting

(Updated) Web links from Microsoft Teams
chats to open in Microsoft Edge; Teams chat will open side-by-side with link
MC669480
· Published Aug 21, 2023 · Last updated Dec 14, 2023
Update for December 14, 2023: The Microsoft
Teams change will now be completed by the end of January instead of
early December as previously communicated. Additionally, an issue was discovered
with managing this change using GPO and Intune, with a fix planned to deploy
with the change by the end of January. To manage this change prior to the fix
deploying, please use the Cloud Policy service for Microsoft 365 (formerly the
Office Cloud Policy Service).
The Microsoft Teams desktop app for Windows
will open web links from Teams chats in Microsoft Edge to enable a new web and
chat side-by-side experience.
By opening web links in Edge, users will be
able to see those links side-by-side with their Teams chats—web links will open
as new browser tabs and the Teams chats will open next to them in the Edge
sidebar. This new, single-view Teams experience in Edge is designed to minimize
switching between windows and to help users stay in the flow of work while
referencing web links.

This change to use Edge to open web links from
Teams chats follows a similar, previously announced change in the Outlook for
Windows app. Customers impacted by this change in Outlook were notified via

to disable copying and sharing features on meeting chat messages for
participants to reduce the risk of data leak. Once this restriction is enabled,
meeting chat participants will not be able to copy chat messages using menu
options or keyboard shortcuts, or forward or share messages to Outlook. There
is also a new Meeting Policy setting in Teams admin center for admin to control
whether users can see or use this feature in the Meeting Options page. Admins

Promote channel creation MC697808
· Published Dec 13, 2023
Today, our experience focusses on letting users
create team at the top level, with channel creation as a per team level option.
Looking at the user behavior here, users end up creating more teams, where it
could have been channels within teams, leading to team proliferation and difficulty
in managing teams. To address this, we are looking to promote channel creation.
For users to collaborate effectively, they need
to set-up the right collaboration space. Channels being the main hub of
collaboration, we made it easier for users to create channels. With the channel
creation option elevated to the top, users can now create the appropriate
collab space by picking between team or channel. They will be able to host the
channel into a team of their choosing.

Simplified team creation MC697434
· Published Dec 12, 2023
Today, users go through multiple steps,
selecting between options while creating teams. However, most users are
inclined towards setting up their team from scratch and as private. Hence, we
defaulted to a simpler experience, yet giving users the rich options of
creating a team from a template or group and selecting privacy/sensitivity of
the team. It is a simple by default, power on demand experience.

co-organizers were able to set up event theming, manage registration, meeting
options, view reports and more but were not able to edit event details like
title, date/time, description, event group; nor publish or cancel event. Now
they can! Co-organizer can edit event details, publish, and cancel the event

· Published Aug 8, 2023 · Last updated Dec 11, 2023
Updated December 11, 2023: We have updated the
content below for clarification. Thank you for your patience.
Earlier
this year, the new Microsoft device ecosystem platform built on the Android
Open-Source Project (AOSP) was announced delivering state-of-the art
security, reliability, and manageability with Microsoft Intune. Microsoft Teams
Android devices will be migrating to this platform. The first step in the
migration is a firmware update to Microsoft Teams Android devices in 2024. The
firmware update will move devices from Android device administrator to Android
AOSP management.
TAP will begin in Q1 of 2024.
Eligible Microsoft Teams Android devices will
initially receive a manual firmware update in Teams Admin Center so IT admins
can manually verify the migration on select devices.
Eventually, the firmware update for migration
will be scheduled as an automatic firmware update in Teams Admin Center. This
automatic firmware update can be deferred for up to 90 days from first
availability.

Updated December 11, 2023: We have updated the
rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.
We are transitioning the Stream experience in
the desktop client of Microsoft Teams from Stream (Classic) to Stream (on
SharePoint). Once transitioned the Stream app in Microsoft Teams will display

content. The new Stream (on SharePoint) app in Teams will feature similar
content and features as found on the Stream start page.
The Stream app is currently accessible across
multiple touchpoints on Teams, including the Stream app on Teams left rail,
Stream on Teams message extension, and the Stream Tab on Chats/Channels. You
can find the app by tapping the three dots on the Teams left rail and then
search for Stream. As a first step, Stream app on Teams left rail will be
updated to Stream (on Sharepoint). This updated version of Stream app will
allow users to access the Stream start page within Teams, and quickly find and
watch videos without switching apps. Users will have the option to pin the
Stream app on the side panel for more convenient access in the future.

the Stream app for Teams web and Teams mobile.

Updated December 11, 2023: We have updated the
rollout timeline below. Thank you for patience.
For meetings that require heightened
confidentiality, end-to-end encryption (E2EE) is an extra layer of security
that encrypts data at its origin and decrypts it at its destination. Only
audio, video, and video-based screen sharing is end-to-end encrypted. Apps,
avatars, reactions, chat, and Q&A are not end-to-end encrypted.
We had launched end-to-end encryption (E2EE)
for meetings with 50 participants in February 2023. We are increasing the
meeting size to 200 participants. We support:
- One can schedule an end-to-end encrypted meeting from desktop
(Windows and Mac) and mobile (iOS or Android).
- To join an end-to-end encrypted meeting
- One can join an end-to-end encrypted meeting from desktop (Windows

be from desktop (Windows or Mac) or mobile (iOS or Android).
- All other platforms are blocked from joining an end-to-end
encrypted meeting.

Simpler and quicker creation of teams and

Updated December 11, 2023: We have updated the
content below with additional information. Thank you for your patience.
Collaborate more easily by creating teams and
channels simpler and faster - a simple by default, power when needed
experience!
Currently, our team and channel creation
processes have several steps and are focused on letting users create team at
the top level, with channel creation as an option for each team.
We are making the team create experience
simpler by default, but still giving users the advanced options of creating a
team from a template or group and choosing the privacy/ sensitivity of the team
if they want. To help users create channels within these teams, we are putting "create
channel" option at the top. They will be able to host the channel into a
default team or a team they select.
Users can now create the right collab space by
choosing between team or channel. Overall, users can now set up the right teams
or channels from the + button, without having to go to different places or
follow multiple steps.

Expanded reactions in Viva Engage MC697805
· Published Dec 13, 2023
Viva Engage reactions help users participate in
conversations. Reactions remain one of the most-used engagement features across
customer networks. We’re offering a wider set of reactions in the product, like
other M365 apps, to help everyone express themselves.
The new set adds 24 new icons to the existing
six for a total of 30 reactions in Viva Engage. The current six reactions
(like, love, laugh, celebrate, thank, sad) will see new additions, including
icons to show laughter, support, checkmark confirmation, excitement, and more.
All expanded reactions support the user’s
chosen skin tone for added inclusivity and remain compliant with accessibility
standards.
All modern clients, including the browser,
mobile, Outlook, SharePoint (incl. Embed), and Teams Engage experiences will be
updated to use the new reaction set. Classic Engage (Yammer) experiences will
not see the updated icon set, however the new icons are mapped to the old icons
to ensure reaction counts remain the same.
Conversation analytics will show the updated
reaction set and counts in post roll ups.
