Bring-Your-Own-Device IT Admin Experience in Teams Pro Management Portal MC680963 · Published Oct 12, 2023

BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) rooms are identified as rooms with no MTR (Microsoft Teams Rooms) but equipped with other peripherals such as camera, microphone.

In Teams Pro Management Portal, IT admins will finally have the capability to manage and track these specific BYOD rooms. They will get a comprehensive overview of their BYOD rooms and devices activities. With this new addition, they will gain valuable insights into how these spaces are being utilized and enabling them to make data driven decisions.

Earlier this year we announced an upcoming breaking change for developers using webhook change notifications for the callRecords Microsoft Graph API. This message provides a final notification and confirmation of the changes that will occur the week of October 30, 2023.

 

Set 'Out of Office' from Teams Mobile Application MC680658 · Published Oct 10, 2023

You can soon set up 'Out of Office' from the Teams Mobile Application itself on iOS and Android. Previously desktop or web Teams client was required to perform this action.

We will begin rolling out in mid-October 2023 and expect to complete rollout by late October 2023.

Emails for Webinars are critical to engage with registrants and often organizers feel the need to customize the content. To enable this, we are rolling out two features.

The content of the emails (i.e. all webinar related attendee emails) can be edited by the event organizers. This is reserved for Teams Premium licensed organizers.

Time to send reminder emails can be configured by the event organizers. This is reserved for Teams Premium licensed organizers.

(Updated) Graph API for Teams Meetings Transcripts MC400569 · Published Jul 14, 2022 · Last updated Oct 10, 2023

Updated October 10, 2023: We have updated the rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

New org-wide application permissions and RSC application permissions have been introduced to make sure that apps can access meeting transcripts for a specific meeting. Resource specific consent (RSC) permissions, specifically enables admins to authorize users to provide consent to apps, so they get specific access to a Teams meeting’s transcripts to which it is installed to, rather than providing them access across the entire tenant.

This message is specifically associated with post-meeting transcripts access for apps - Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID: 95788 that allows authorized apps to access Teams Meetings transcripts once the meeting is over.

We will begin rolling this out in early October 2023 (previously mid-August) and expect to complete late December 2023 (previously late October).

 

(Updated) Microsoft Teams: Block Meeting Chat Access in External, Non-Trusted Meeting Joins MC561186 · Published May 26, 2023 · Last updated Oct 10, 2023

Microsoft Teams IT Admins will soon be able to block internal users from accessing chats when these users join meetings organized on external non-trusted tenants, including cross-cloud join. This release of Microsoft Teams' new meeting chat setting will be rolling out across MS Teams Desktop, Mobile and Web and will provide a new way for tenants to manage users' chat access in meetings hosted on external non-trusted tenants.

Collaboration security capabilities for Microsoft Teams will be available in expanded preview for all users of Microsoft Defender for Office 365.

(Updated) Cloud IntelliFrame: A New Way to See People in Teams Rooms MC642265 · Published Jul 14, 2023 · Last updated Oct 10, 2023

Cloud IntelliFrame is a new experience that allows online meeting attendees to see people in Teams Rooms more clearly, enhancing the hybrid meeting experience by creating smart video feeds of in-room participants. The smart video feed is created by zooming into their faces and eliminating distractions. You can see the expressions and gestures of the people in the room more easily, which will help improve collaboration in hybrid meetings. It creates equity in hybrid meetings as everyone can be seen and heard.

Cloud IntelliFrame will be rolling out across Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows with Pro license and can be viewed on Microsoft Teams Desktop (Windows & Mac) with any license.

Saved items availability in New Teams MC680353 · Published Oct 10, 2023

Currently New Teams does not have a Saved feature. This will continue to exist in Classic Teams. In the coming months we'll provide users with the option of downloading Classic Teams saved items to a doc with hyperlinks to open them. Additionally, a new and improved Saved feature is planned to come into New Teams next year.

Custom Backgrounds for Announcement Posts in Channels MC680348 · Published Oct 10, 2023

Microsoft Teams users will soon be able to create custom backgrounds for their Announcement posts with the generative AI power of Microsoft Designer. This release of Custom Backgrounds for Announcement Posts will be rolling out across Microsoft Teams Desktop and Web for Channels 2.0 in English – US markets only. In line with current announcement behavior, Mobile will only support the consumption of custom backgrounds. Feature is disabled for EDU tenants while the team implements a policy setting.

Viva Engage | User reactions in eDiscovery is GA MC681241 · Published Oct 13, 2023

We are excited to share that as of October 3rd 2023, user reactions to messages* in Viva Engage will be ingested for eDiscovery. Hence, any content search done on Viva Engage messages will retrieve all user reactions on those messages in eDiscovery. The solution is now GA to all our customers, in our effort to further strengthen the compliance standards of Viva Engage and deepen the trust of our customers in the product.

Microsoft Viva: Search in Viva Connections Mobile for iOS MC680962 · Published Oct 12, 2023

Search will now be enabled in the Viva Connections (VC) app in Teams. Along with searching in Teams, VC users will also be able to get intranet search results. This feature will be rolled out in a phased manner starting with iOS in mobile only, followed by Android in mobile and then Tablet. The current update is linked to iOS in mobile and we will send out a notification before other phases as well.

Viva Connections: Apply brand colors across all Connections endpoints using themes MC680961 · Published Oct 12, 2023

Soon you’ll be able to further customize the Connections experience by applying the themes available in SharePoint to reflect organizational brand colors across desktop, tablet, and mobile.

If you can edit the Connections experience, you have two ways to use this new feature:

Current process: Editors can change the color theme by using the 'Change the look' panel under site settings for their home site. The same color theme will also apply to their Viva Connections experience on Teams desktop, tablet, and mobile.

New process: Editors can go to the top right corner of the Connections desktop app and open the overflow menu. There, they will find a new option called 'Change the look'. This option lets them choose a color theme that will impact both the Connections theme and the home site theme.

Note: This feature will be released along with or after the tenant has received the refreshed landing experience for Viva Connections desktop.

We will begin rolling out this feature to targeted release customers by mid-November 2023.

This is expected to become generally available to all customers by the end of February 2024.

 

Product-wide disablement of email to private message feature in Viva Engage (Yammer) MC680793 · Published Oct 11, 2023

After 13th November 2023, Viva Engage (Yammer) will no longer support the creation of private messages through email. It will still be possible for users to post messages to communities through email.

Today, users can create private messages by emailing user alias+network name@yammer.com. This flow will soon stop working. Users must instead go to the Engage app or browser experience to create private messages.

If users attempt to create a private message by sending an email after the feature is disabled, they'll receive an email notification explaining that email creation of private messages is no longer available. Private messages continue to generate email notifications; users will still be able to reply and react to private messages in Outlook.

All networks will find that the email to private message feature stops working at the same time after November 13, 2023.

 

Microsoft Viva: Inline on Demand Feedback on Topic Cards Available MC680657 · Published Oct 10, 2023

Microsoft Viva users can soon provide feedback on AI suggested people and resources on a topic card by simply clicking the "Give Feedback" button to confirm or remove them.

We will begin rollout in mid-October 2023 and expect rollout to be complete by late October 2023.

 

Viva Learning Webapp Moving to Learning.Cloud.Microsoft MC680350 · Published Oct 10, 2023

We are excited to announce that Viva Learning webapp is migrating from https://vivalearning.microsoft.com/ to https://learning.cloud.microsoft/. Viva Learning Webapp will also have self-explanatory and user-friendly links to tabs in Viva Learning.

This migration places the Viva Learning Webapp in the ".microsoft" domain.  After rollout, Viva Learning Webapp URLs will automatically redirect to the "learning.cloud.microsoft" domain. Users will be able to access all the features of the Webapp but under ".microsoft" domain.

Announcing Viva Home: The Home for the Viva Suite on the Web MC680346 · Published Oct 10, 2023

We are excited to announce the upcoming availability of Viva Home, a single web destination for your employees to access all the Viva apps they are licensed for. With Viva Home, employees can gain quick access to all Viva apps and learn how to incorporate them into their everyday work.

Labeled as “Viva”, this new page will be discoverable in the Apps experience at microsoft365.com/apps, as well as in the Microsoft 365 App Launcher. The new experience provides a centralized location for Microsoft 365 users to access all their Viva apps such as Connections, Engage, Insights, Learning, Goals and more on the web. The content displayed on the page will respect the end-user’s license and service plan assignment.

Compared to Viva Connections, Viva Home is the home for the suite on the web with the goal to provide education, discoverability, and navigation to various Viva modules. It cannot be customized. Viva Connections is the company-branded employee experience destination where employees can access daily tasks, workflows, company news and resources. Viva Connections is customizable to incorporate company branding, custom workflows and more.
