· Published Jun 9, 2023 · Last updated Jul 14, 2023
Updated July 13, 2023: We have updated the
rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.
With privacy and security restrictions, we have
implemented a user-level IT admin policy for admins to choose whether some or
all users in the company can use Collaborative Annotations. Currently, there is
a way to turn Annotations ON or OFF through cmdlet
Set-SPOTenant-IsWBFluidEnabled, this will also influence Whiteboard.
We will begin rolling out in mid-June and expect
to complete rollout by late July (previously late June).
(Updated) Graph API for Teams Meetings
Transcripts MC400569
· Published Jul 14, 2022 · Last updated Jul 13, 2023
Updated July 13, 2023: We have updated the
rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.
New org-wide application permissions and RSC
application permissions have been introduced to make sure that apps can access
meeting transcripts for a specific meeting. Resource specific consent (RSC)
permissions, specifically enables admins to authorize users to provide consent
to apps, so they get specific access to a Teams meeting’s transcripts to which
it is installed to, rather than providing them access across the entire tenant.
This message is specifically associated with
post-meeting transcripts access for apps - Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID: 95788
that allows authorized apps to access Teams Meetings transcripts once the
meeting is over.
We will begin rolling this out in mid-August
(previously mid-June) and expect to complete early September.
(Updated) Microsoft Teams: New Channels
Experience MC550081
· Published May 3, 2023 · Last updated Jul 13, 2023
Updated July 13, 2023: We have updated the
rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.
A new channels experience in Microsoft Teams
has been built with an intuitive design that allows teams to focus and stay on
tasks, bring everyone up to speed, and actively engage in real-time. The
following features will be rolling out:
- The compose box and recent posts will appear at the top of the
page. It'll now be much easier to start a new post, keep up with the
latest conversations and participate - giving users the confidence that
they’ve not missed anything.
- Every post is now a true conversation that users can focus on.
Users can navigate to a conversation view that makes the discussion more
engaging and synchronous, just like a chat. Users can also pop out the
post, keep an eye on the discussion, while continuing to work on other
topics.
- A streamlined information pane will include all the important contextual
information like channel’s members and pinned posts so new team members
can quickly on-board and for all members to find the information they
need, right in the channel.
- Pin posts to make it easy for everyone to know what’s important in
the channel and quickly reference it.
- Simplified badging is making it easier for users to understand when
there are new unread activities in teams. In addition, the simplified
design helps users focus on the specific channels which requires the most
attention, like channels in which the user was @mentioned.

(Updated) Microsoft Teams: Updating the
Bookings app to the Virtual Appointments app MC560731
· Published May 24, 2023 · Last updated Jul 12, 2023
Updated July 12, 2023: We have updated the
content below with additional information. Thank you for your patience..
Bookings is supported across multiple entry
points spanning Web, Teams and Outlook, however there is lack of parity in the
feature set across these entry points leading to an inconsistent user
experience. This fragmented experience has resulted in high DSAT for customers
that has provided feedback to Microsoft to unify and provide feature parity in
Bookings across all entry points.
The Bookings experience in Teams will soon be
updated to match the web version on https://book.ms,
ensuring consistent features across all endpoints. However, certain features
like Forms, Queuing & scheduler-initiated SMS reminders for appointments
will be available only on the new Virtual Appointments app on Teams.
With the Virtual Appointments app, we are
introducing an end-to-end B2C meetings solution that leverages Bookings as the
scheduling engine and includes advanced meetings features such as real time
meeting state update, chat with attendees in waiting room lobby via Queue view,
rich analytics to shows virtual appointment usage trends to drive business
outcomes such as no-shows.
With this change, the updated Bookings Teams
app will have feature parity and consistent user experience as Bookings web
app. Virtual Appointments app will be a superset of the current Bookings Teams
app experience embedded within the new app and will include advanced virtual
appointments features.

Limiting public webinar attendee joins to three
concurrent devices MC638135
· Published Jul 12, 2023
Currently in public webinars, an attendee can
use their registration link to join and be present in a webinar with any number
of devices. For public webinars, there is also a possibility for that attendee
to forward their registration link to others who have not registered and have
them join with the registered attendee’s join link. With this new update, only
3 concurrent join instances can be present in a webinar using the same
registration join link. This means that attendees can now use only up to three
devices to participate in a webinar.

Microsoft Teams: Capture Request to Use

(Updated) Microsoft Viva: Auto-Categorization
Coming to Meeting Category Insights in Viva Insights MC546939
· Published Apr 26, 2023 · Last updated Jul 13, 2023
Updated July 13, 2023: We have updated the
rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.
Meeting category insights in the Viva Insights
app helps Viva Insights licensed users understand how they are allocating their
time across meeting categories. Today, the feature uses the categories manually
assigned by users in Outlook and Teams. In an upcoming update, meeting category
insights will begin automatically categorizing meetings for users based on
meeting size, cadence, and number of people in the meetings. Categories include:
- Long meetings – More than 1 hour long and 0-8 invitees
- Large meetings – At least 9 invitees and at most 1 hour long
- Large and long meetings – At least 9 invitees and more than 1 hour
long
- Recurring meetings – Meeting series with multiple instances
- 1:1 meetings – Include 1 other participant
These categories can help users identify
meetings that are expensive in terms of time spent, participants included, or
both. Using these insights, users can assess whether meetings that fall under
this category are a valuable use of time and resources as a step towards doing
more with less.
Categorizations will show up in Viva Insights
only and will not reflect in Outlook or Teams calendar.
With this update, users who are not currently
categorizing in Outlook or Teams will be able to access meeting category
insights and begin developing an understanding of how their meeting time is
being spent. Users who are already categorizing will receive additional
insights about their meeting time allocation according to well-known meeting
attributes.
