(Updated) Quick Access Teams and Sharepoint
Document Libraries in win32 backstage MC432475
· Published Sep 16, 2022 · Last updated Jul 6, 2023
Updated July 5, 2023: We have updated the
rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.
Currently, users experience some frustration
when using Office products because of all different routes that they must use
to access all their content. The Quick Access feature will allow users to
access shared libraries from both their SharePoint and Teams locations. When
the user opens files from shared libraries, these libraries will show up in the
form of a list which will encourage users to save and open files to these
libraries with ease. This helps deliver a more consistent, coherent storage
location experience across M365 apps. This new backstage experience won’t show
up in Teams, SharePoint, or OneDrive but does include storage locations from
OneDrive and Teams (sites/channels) which are stored on SharePoint.
Targeted Release: We will begin rolling out
late June (previously late April) and expect to complete by late July
(previously late May).
Standard Release: We will begin rolling out
mid-July (previously late June) and expect to complete by mid-August (previously
late July).

· Published Jul 7, 2023
As part of the Viva Learning integration with
LinkedIn, Microsoft provides free content in Viva Learning that can be accessed
by any Viva Learning user without the need for a LinkedIn premium license. As
part of this partnership, we are increasing the set of free courses to the
Global Skilling Initiative catalog which consists of more than 300 courses.
This will replace the existing catalog of 125 free LinkedIn courses available
in Viva Learning.
You can find more details on the Global
Skilling Initiative program here.
We will begin rollout in early July 2023 and expect
rollout to be complete by mid-July 2023.
(Updated) Microsoft Viva: Auto-Categorization
Coming to Meeting Category Insights in Viva Insights MC546939
· Published Apr 26, 2023 · Last updated Jul 6, 2023
Updated July 5, 2023: We have updated the
rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.
Meeting category insights in the Viva Insights
app helps Viva Insights licensed users understand how they are allocating their
time across meeting categories. Today, the feature uses the categories manually
assigned by users in Outlook and Teams. In an upcoming update, meeting category
insights will begin automatically categorizing meetings for users based on
meeting size, cadence, and number of people in the meetings. Categories
include:
- Long meetings – More than 1 hour long and 0-8 invitees
- Large meetings – At least 9 invitees and at most 1 hour long
- Large and long meetings – At least 9 invitees and more than 1 hour
long
- Recurring meetings – Meeting series with multiple instances
- 1:1 meetings – Include 1 other participant
These categories can help users identify
meetings that are expensive in terms of time spent, participants included, or
both. Using these insights, users can assess whether meetings that fall under
this category are a valuable use of time and resources as a step towards doing
more with less.
Categorizations will show up in Viva Insights
only and will not reflect in Outlook or Teams calendar.
With this update, users who are not currently
categorizing in Outlook or Teams will be able to access meeting category
insights and begin developing an understanding of how their meeting time is
being spent. Users who are already categorizing will receive additional
insights about their meeting time allocation according to well-known meeting
attributes.
