Microsoft Entra ID: New Microsoft

For Microsoft Entra and Microsoft Teams, we are
introducing two new resource-specific consent settings (RSC) for teams and
chats to enhance secure app adoption. These settings will affect Chat RSC and
Team RSC for apps in Microsoft Teams. This update also empowers Teams-level
admins to independently manage these settings. Existing Group owner consent
settings and API and the existing Chat RSC API will be retired with this
update.

This is a two-part update, with:
- IntelliFrame experiences availability on new Teams app for Desktop,
- Expanding recognition support to cover scenarios such as meeting
invite forwarding and Teams meeting nudge among others (Please See below
for details)
- IntelliFrame experiences from Edge cameras like Yealink
Smartvision 60 are currently available on Teams Desktop platform. With
this update, we want to announce the availability of IntelliFrame on New
Teams app.
- Recognition expansion: This update applies to both existing and
new Teams desktop app. Previously recognition was only supported when an
organizer invited the meeting room with Intelligent camera connected.
With this update, we are able to support the following scenarios.
i.
Meeting forward (both one time and recurring
meetings)
ii.
Teams nudge (using Roster>add participant)
iii.
Join by meeting ID (Using MTR to join a meeting
by ID)
- Also, under "Recognition" feature, we heard our users and
renamed unrecognized users from "Guest" to
"Participant". Moving forward, with this update anyone who is
unrecognized will see their name label as "Participant."

Virtual appointment, Webinar, and Town hall are
Teams meeting templates that are accessible via the 'New meeting' dropdown menu
in Teams Calendar App. We are now expanding how you can access these meeting
templates by adding them to the meeting templates menu in the Outlook Windows
client in the Teams Meeting Add-In. When in Outlook Calendar, select the
dropdown menu next to the Teams meeting Add-In button to see the list of
meeting templates now available. When a meeting template has been selected, the
Teams App will open via a deeplink and directly open the meeting template
scheduling form.

Microsoft Teams will be bringing workflows
powered by Power Automate into the overflow menu for chats.
To make sure Microsoft Teams provides the best
workflow experience for our users we are making it easier to configure
workflows for chats. From the list of chats users will be able to go into the
overflow menu for a specific chat (...) and select "Workflows". Here
they will see a list of workflow templates specific to chats within Teams.
Users can then configure these templates to their needs and deploy them to the
chat.

the Teams desktop client will be updated with the new OneDrive app experience,
bringing performance improvements, more views, and the latest features of OneDrive

As part of this change, Files app on left side
of the new Teams desktop client will also become OneDrive app. There is no
change in the name of Files app in either classic Teams desktop client or Teams
mobile client.

This feature enables users with personal
Microsoft accounts (MSA) using the free version of Microsoft Teams to join and
participate in Teams for work (or school) meetings with their signed-in
personal account when joining meetings from within the Teams app. This feature
also lets these users stay connected with the other meeting participants
(retain access to the meeting chat) after the meeting has ended. These users
are no longer prompted to join only via a browser and later treated as meeting
guests (anonymous).

to see. Attendees can select from a pre-selected list of translated languages

translated languages from a list of over 40 languages to be shown to the
attendees for captions during a town hall.

information for an existing scheduled one. Information includes a town hall's
details, presenters, theming, and more. The organizer can also choose to edit
and update the information as needed for their new town hall.

With automatic tags, your frontline workers can
reach each other by department or job title in Microsoft Teams channel
conversations. Anyone on the team can use the tags in @mentions to notify the
people who are associated with the tag.
Your frontline can quickly and easily reach the
right groups of people. Because the tags are automatically created based on
your mapped attribute values, team owners do not have to manually create and
assign tags or manage them locally.

Changes to the Website tab in the new Teams

Starting April 2024, Microsoft Teams will be
retiring the ability to load websites inside the new Teams client when using
the Website tab. These website links will open in a new browser tab instead.
This is to better align with emerging best practices in web security and
privacy while also improving the reliability of websites opened through this
feature.
Please note that EDU tenants will not be
impacted as we are still researching options on how to best provide a
non-disruptive way to access websites for students and educators at a later
date.
We will begin rolling out this change in
early April 2024.

available. This feature, available in the new Teams experience on Windows,
enables you to mute and unmute your audio by clicking the mic icon in Windows
taskbar.
To control your call mic from the taskbar, do
the following:
Select the mic icon on your taskbar or press
Windows logo key + Alt + K to mute or unmute your microphone while using a
calling app.

indicator for volume in Windows taskbar.

We're pleased to announce the upcoming
Multi-Tenant Organization (MTO) capabilities in Microsoft Teams. Admins can
activate these features by configuring an MTO group in the Microsoft 365 admin
center, while users utilize the new Teams desktop client.

Similar to other channels in a team, now you
will be able to hide general channels as well!
As a team member, when you become a part of a
team, you see general channel always shown in your teams and channels list.
Sometimes, even though the channel is not used, you still have it sticking in
your teams and channels list. Introducing the capability for you to hide
general channel, like any other channel in the team. Note, if general is the
last channel in the team, then the team will get hidden as well.

Microsoft Teams: Global reader role for

Admins can now use the existing Global reader
role for read-only access to the Teams devices section in the Teams admin
center!
The Global reader role is a built-in role in
Microsoft Entra ID that allows admins to view all administrative features and
settings without the ability to edit or modify them. This role is useful for
auditing, reporting, and troubleshooting purposes.

Engage, with control over formatting and design. Articles can be viewed on any
device.
Articles provide a simple way for leaders and
employees to share their perspectives, insights, and knowledge with the
organization, fostering a sense of connection and pride. Viva Engage also
provides conversation and audience analytics for Articles, helping
communicators and leaders understand what content resonates with employees and
improve their communication strategies.
