Microsoft Teams, buckets are a common way to organize tasks into different
areas of work.
The mobile experience for the Tasks app in
Teams will soon be updated to make it easier to filter to a specific bucket or
set of buckets so that you can focus on the tasks in your area. We expect this
simple user experience change to provide greater focus and greater

(Updated) Promote channel creation MC697808
· Published Dec 13, 2023 · Last updated Jan 12, 2024
Updated January 12, 2024: We have updated the
rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.
Today, our experience focusses on letting users
create team at the top level, with channel creation as a per team level option.
Looking at the user behavior here, users end up creating more teams, where it
could have been channels within teams, leading to team proliferation and
difficulty in managing teams. To address this, we are looking to promote
channel creation.
For users to collaborate effectively, they need
to set-up the right collaboration space. Channels being the main hub of
collaboration, we made it easier for users to create channels. With the channel
creation option elevated to the top, users can now create the appropriate
collab space by picking between team or channel. They will be able to host the
channel into a team of their choosing.

· Published Dec 12, 2023 · Last updated Jan 12, 2024
Updated January 12, 2024: We have updated the
rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.
Today, users go through multiple steps,
selecting between options while creating teams. However, most users are
inclined towards setting up their team from scratch and as private. Hence, we
defaulted to a simpler experience, yet giving users the rich options of
creating a team from a template or group and selecting privacy/sensitivity of
the team. It is a simple by default, power on demand experience.

(Updated) Microsoft Teams Connect chat -
Extended Directory MC704952
· Published Jan 8, 2024 · Last updated Jan 12, 2024
Updated January 12, 2024: We have updated the
content below to show as intended. Thank you for your patience.
Microsoft Teams is now introducing enhancements
on top of Teams Connect for chats. With the Teams Connect chat extended
directory, IT admins can create an external directory of known external
collaborators using their phone numbers. Once created, it will be easier for
users in the tenant to:
- Search external users by name and establish 1:1 or group chats with
them.
- View a company curated profile that includes information like a
user's location, job role, or business unit and even assign an
organization manager for these external partners.
In addition to these end user improvements, IT
admins can continue to use all compliance and security features available with
Teams Connect chat along with enhancements like restricting external chat to
the list of users added via phone numbers.

Keep your Microsoft Teams desktop client
compliant by updating regularly MC705764
· Published Jan 10, 2024
Since Microsoft Teams is governed by the Modern
Lifecycle Policy, the Teams desktop client needs to be up to date. Users
who are on old versions of Classic Teams app will receive in-app notifications
to encourage them to update to the latest version of Teams. This is to ensure
that users have the latest capabilities, performance enhancements, security
features, and service reliability.
Note: This in-app notification will not apply
to users on machine wide (non-persistent setup) Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
(VDI) deployments. Admins will need to regularly update those users to remain
supported on Teams.
Per MC298823 (Nov '21), a version that is too
far out of date will become incompatible with the service until it’s updated.
This will be enforced on January 22, 2024.

Meetings MC705762
· Published Jan 10, 2024

the meeting will become labeled and the content will be considered sensitive
accordingly.
