Microsoft Teams: Install apps based on user
activity with Auto install approved apps (AAA) MC548106
· Published 28 apr. 2023
We are expanding the audience for this Message
center post as we are getting ready to roll this change to the audience who saw
the post originally, and after that to the rest of our customers per the
schedule below. The product name has also changed from Zero-touch app install
to Auto install approved apps.
Microsoft Teams Auto install approved apps
(AAA) uses activity from your users to install and surface apps that admins
have already allowed for the tenant. An admin can enable AAA to help users
naturally discover and use apps that are highly relevant to their needs within
Microsoft Teams. Specifically, when a user signs into specific SaaS apps using
Azure AD (e.g. in web browser), the app will be installed for that user on
Teams.
This message is associated with Microsoft 365
Roadmap ID 100385
AAA provides the right apps to the right users
at the right time. Admins and users benefit from:
- App governance is respected: there is an admin control to turn
ON/OFF, launched as default OFF. Installs will not happen for blocked apps
and users.
- Last-mile delivery: admins have done the hard part of deciding
which apps/users to allow. AAA simply helps roll out these apps to the
right users.
- Cross-platform convenience: users can easily access the same apps
they are currently using on other platforms, now in Teams.
- Discovery: many users are not aware their apps are available on
Teams - AAA brings it to them without manually searching in the app store.
- License maximization: maximize the value of SaaS licenses by having
the same app available on multiple platforms.
In the Teams admin center, there is also a new App permissions section in every app's detail page that lists the app permissions. This is the same app permissions shown in the Teams client app store for every app today, now available for admins to conveniently view. This may assist you as you review the apps supported by AAA.
Customers who previously received this Message center post will begin receiving this feature early May 2023 and we expect to complete by mid-May 2023.
New customers who are receiving this Message
center post will begin receiving this feature mid-May 2023 and we expect to
complete by early June 2023.

(Updated) Microsoft Teams: Change Call Queue
and Auto Attendant Greetings and Announcements by Authorized Users MC527929
· Published 15 mars 2023 · Last updated 27 apr. 2023
Updated April 27, 2023: We have updated the
rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.
Changing business conditions often require
adjustments to call queue/auto attendant greetings and announcements. However,
it can be difficult to identify the right Teams admin to make these changes,
and addressing high request volumes can be time-consuming for the responsible
admins. With the introduction of user managed CQ/AA greetings for Teams Phone,
authorized users (as identified by Teams tenant admins) can change greetings
and announcements for their respective call queues and auto attendant directly
from the user’s Teams settings, in the “Calls” settings. To implement this
capability, tenant admins must select permissible greetings/announcement
changes for a voice policy, and then authorize specific users in the Teams
Admin Center.

Viva Topics app in Teams MC546937
· Published 26 apr. 2023
The official Viva Topics app in Teams is
rolling out to external customers.
Previously, we had built a Topics app for Teams
as a script that Teams admins could upload. Now, the Topics app is available as
a first party "Microsoft-built" app. This means the app is available
in the app store for your tenant already, no upload or script-downloading
required. Users in your tenant can either easily 'add' the app, like other
Microsoft-built or Viva apps, or the Teams admins can select to have the Topics
app pre-installed for users.

(Updated) User's policies details page
enhancements MC543382
· Published 19 apr. 2023 · Last updated 25 apr. 2023
Updated April 25, 2023: We have updated the
content below with additional details. Thank you for your patience.
The user's policy details page in Microsoft
Teams admin center provides admins with the ability to manage policies for
individual users. However, the current experience falls short in meeting
critical needs, such as presenting a comprehensive view of all policies
assigned to a user and a policy assignment view to understand how a policy is
applied to the user.
To address these concerns, the new user details
policy page offers an enhanced experience that enables admins to view all
effective policies for a user, along with a clear policy assignment hierarchy
view. With this new functionality, admins can easily troubleshoot any
problematic policy assignments, ensuring that policies are correctly assigned,
and their users' experiences are optimal.
Standard Release: We will begin rolling out
early May 2023 and expect to complete by late May 2023.

Microsoft Viva: Auto-Categorization Coming
to Meeting Category Insights in Viva Insights MC546939
· Published 26 apr. 2023
Meeting category insights in the Viva Insights
app helps Viva Insights licensed users understand how they are allocating their
time across meeting categories. Today, the feature uses the categories manually
assigned by users in Outlook and Teams. In an upcoming update, meeting category
insights will begin automatically categorizing meetings for users based on
meeting size, cadence, and number of people in the meetings. Categories
include:
- Long meetings – More than 1 hour long and 0-8 invitees
- Large meetings – At least 9 invitees and at most 1 hour long
- Large and long meetings – At least 9 invitees and more than 1 hour
long
- Recurring meetings – Meeting series with multiple instances
- 1:1 meetings – Include 1 other participant
These categories can help users identify
meetings that are expensive in terms of time spent, participants included, or
both. Using these insights, users can assess whether meetings that fall under
this category are a valuable use of time and resources as a step towards doing
more with less.
Categorizations will show up in Viva Insights
only and will not reflect in Outlook or Teams calendar.
With this update, users who are not currently
categorizing in Outlook or Teams will be able to access meeting category
insights and begin developing an understanding of how their meeting time is
being spent. Users who are already categorizing will receive additional
insights about their meeting time allocation according to well-known meeting attributes.
