Keep your Microsoft Teams desktop client
compliant by updating regularly MC477839
· Published Dec 2, 2022
Since Microsoft Teams is governed by the Modern
Lifecycle Policy, the Teams desktop client needs to be up to date. The
Teams client is updated approximately once per month. The client automatically
installs updates when they become available to that client. Because we stagger
the availability of updates worldwide, some clients in your organization might
receive new updates before others.
It's expected that users remain on the most
up-to-date version of the desktop client. Users need to update regularly for
users to remain supported on Teams. The regular updates by users ensure that
they have the latest capabilities, performance enhancements, security, and
service reliability.
Users on Teams 1.4 or earlier build will see an
out-of-date banner around seven days from the date you received this message.
Users on Teams 1.5.00.616 or earlier build will
see an out-of-date banner around 30 days from the date you received this
message.
On January 9th, 2023, users on Teams 1.4 or
earlier build will encounter a blocking page requesting an update to the latest
version of Teams.
In the future, users of out-of-date clients
will continue to see warning banners and later be blocked to ensure they meet
security and compliance obligations as highlighted in the servicing
agreement.
(Updated) IT Admin Policy Change for the New
Webinars Experience on Teams MC454809
· Published Nov 1, 2022 · Last updated Dec 1, 2022
Updated December 1, 2022: We have updated the
rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.
We are excited to announce the upcoming launch
of the new webinar experience. This experience is an intuitive end-to-end
webinar solution addressing key feedback received since the initial webinar
launch last year and is built to scale for advanced webinars in the future. The
new webinar will be found by clicking the New Meeting dropdown in the calendar
app and selecting Webinar.
With the launch of the new webinar experience,
we are introducing a new policy called Teams Event Policy to TAP IT Admins and
TAP customers. This policy (Settings: AllowWebinars and EventAccessType) will control
the new webinar experience, and the current webinar experience will be
controlled by the existing Teams Meeting Policy (Settings:
AllowMeetingRegistration and WhoCanRegister). As we make this transition from
the current and existing webinar experience to a new one, we are giving you the
option to either use the new, current/existing, or no webinar experience. When
we launch the new webinar experience, this experience will by default be ON
(AllowWebinars: ON).

Roadmap ID 86826
The new webinar experience is targeted for
rollout starting in early December (previously late November) and is expected
to be completed by late December (previously early December).
(Updated) Expanded reactions in Teams MC428506

Updated November 30, 2022: We have updated the
rollout timeline below. Thank you for your patience.
This update will allow users to apply any emoji
as a reaction to chat or channels messages. Users can choose from over 800
existing Teams emojis to express themselves the way they want. Browse all the
reaction options or use the search bar to the find the reaction you want.
This feature update will also be delivered with
a new reactions user experience to support the expanded reactions options. The
reaction hover bar will now feature a reduced number of quick hover options to
make space for an expanded reaction button. The reaction summary will also be
moved from the top right of the message to the bottom of the message bubble to
make space for the wide range of options that can now be added.

(Windows and Mac), Teams mobile (Android and iOS), and Teams on the web.

(Updated) Microsoft Teams: Start a Teams
Chat with Distribution Groups, Mail-Enabled Security Groups, and O365 Groups
MC408435
· Published Aug 1, 2022 · Last updated Nov 29, 2022
Updated November 29, 2022: We have updated the
content below with additional information. Thank you for your patience.
You will now be able to start a Teams Chat with
Distribution Groups, Mail-enabled Security Groups, and O365 Groups. This
feature will respect the limits on members in a group chat, currently set to
250 members.
Organizations rely on Distribution Lists (DLs)
as a tool to create groups of users that mirror organizational knowledge and
workflows. Bringing this awareness to target audiences for specific content
will enhance the core Teams experience. Allowing our customers to leverage DLs
can increase workflow efficiency and bridge the gap between legacy knowledge of
organization structure and a new Teams structure.

Topic types provide better context to users by
providing them with a suggested category for topics that helps them distinguish
two topics with similar names and determine what type of information they’re
viewing. We’ll continue to suggest types like products, projects, events or
more, and we’re adding the ability to identify over 150 types which are more
granular, like conference, framework, process, and more. As a topic
