communication experiences across the organization.

Microsoft Teams: Important updates for
Android-based Teams devices – Authentication changes coming soon MC1088732
Published Jun 5, 2025
If your organization does not manage one or
more certified Microsoft Teams Android devices, you can safely ignore this
message.
Your organization manages one or more certified
Microsoft Teams Android devices, such as Teams Phone devices, Teams Panels,
Teams Displays, and Teams Rooms on Android (MTRA). To enhance security
capabilities such as Continuous Access Evaluation and IP-based conditional
access enforcement, Microsoft is transitioning these devices to modern, secure
authentication using Entra ID (AAD) based tokens.
These changes will impact how devices
authenticate to Teams services. This update provides key dates, required
versions, and important cautions—especially for tenants using Teams Displays.
How this will affect your organization:
Once your devices are updated to the app
versions listed below, end users will see no change in their Teams experience,
while admins will have enhanced security capabilities such as Continuous Access
Evaluation and IP-based conditional access enforcement. These updates are
required to maintain connectivity and support secure authentication.
Minimum required app versions for modern
authentication:
- Teams Phones: 1449/1.0.94.2025020301
- Teams Rooms on Android (MTRA): 1449/1.0.96.2025020302
- Teams Panels: 1449/1.0.97.2025020502
- Teams Displays: To be released
July 31, 2025: Devices on supported app versions will
automatically switch to modern authentication. Devices on unsupported app
versions will continue to work with legacy authentication. NOTE: Teams Displays
will be excluded from this milestone.
September 30, 2025: All MTR-A devices on minimum app versions will
be leveraging modern authentication. Admins should ensure updating their apps
to suggested versions by this date.
December 31, 2025: All authenticated traffic must use modern
authentication. Ensure all Teams Android devices are updated to the versions
listed above as soon as they are available and before December 31, 2025, to
avoid service disruption.
Microsoft Teams: Inclusive meeting
enhancements for sign language users MC1088725
Published Jun 5, 2025
As hybrid and remote collaboration continues to
evolve, we’re seeing growing disparities in how people are seen, heard, and
engaged during meetings. These challenges are particularly noticeable for
participants joining remotely, using assistive technologies, or communicating
through different modalities.
Before this rollout, sign language users face
several challenges during meetings, including difficulty locating and
identifying their interpreters, as well as ensuring proper positioning of
interpreter video feeds. Furthermore, active speaker detection prioritizes
audio, resulting in participants who communicate through sign language often
receiving less visual prominence than verbal speakers. These challenges make it
more difficult for Deaf and hard-of-hearing participants to remain fully
engaged during meetings.
In Microsoft Teams, we are committed to
addressing these gaps, with a particular focus on enhancing the meeting
experience for Deaf and hard-of-hearing participants who communicate using sign
language. As part of our initial efforts, we are introducing Sign Language
Mode. When enabled, Sign language users will benefit from an enhanced meeting
experience. Interpreters will be clearly identified in the participant roster
and visually distinguished throughout meetings. Deaf and hard-of-hearing
participants who use sign language will be automatically detected and elevated
to active speaker status, ensuring equal prominence with spoken audio
participants. This will help create a more equitable and collaborative
environment for everyone.
NOTE: Teams for Windows desktop and Teams for
Mac desktop are required for sign language detection. Support for Teams for web
will come later this year. Sign language detection will not work on mobile
devices. Signer promotion to the primary meeting view will work in Teams for
Windows desktop, Teams for Mac desktop, Teams for the web, and Teams for
iOS/Android.

retrieval questions specific to your organization's inventory. This new chatbot

Microsoft Teams: New threaded conversation
layout option for channels MC1088172
Published Jun 4, 2025
Coming soon to Microsoft Teams channels: A new
threaded layout similar to group chats. Before this rollout, channels have a
Post reply layout option only.
After this rollout, the threaded layout will
encourage immediate back-and-forth communication in channels. In threaded
layout channels, users can reply to specific messages and start a thread in the
side pane. Threads allow users to have side conversations while keeping the
main conversation without cluttering the main conversation.

Microsoft Teams: Interactive agents for
meetings and calls MC1087634
Published Jun 3, 2025
Introducing a new feature that will bring
interactive agents into Microsoft Teams meetings and 1-on-1 calls. Users will
be able to engage with agents as a group or privately, with zero-state prompts
and history support for seamless interactions. Before this rollout, only agents
built on Microsoft Copilot can support sessions, which means they can remember
the context of previous interactions in the same session, for more relevant
responses. Custom agents do not yet have session support.
After this rollout, all agents from Microsoft
365 Copilot Chat and Microsoft Copilot Studio will be available for users in
their meetings and calls. This feature will allow developers to invite
colleagues to give feedback and securely test agents, without affecting
sensitive data or production channels.
A Microsoft 365 Copilot license or a Microsoft
365 license is required to use this feature. As part of the Microsoft 365 SKUs,
if users have access to declarative agents in Microsoft Copilot Chat, agents
are available in their meetings and calls. No license is required for custom
engine agents.

Pulse: New question types including skip logic in surveys MC1087633
Published Jun 3, 2025
Before this
rollout, we do not support skip logic in Microsoft Viva Pulse surveys. We
currently support rating scale questions, multiple choice questions, matrix,
and ranking order questions in Pulse surveys.
After this
rollout, users can add skip logic to single-select multiple choice and rating
scale questions (without follow-ups) in Viva Pulse. With skip logic, a
respondent’s answer can determine which question they see next, for more
tailored and dynamic surveys.

and Teams for iOS/Android.
Viva Pulse is
available for users with a license for Microsoft Viva Suite, Viva Workplace
